Paul B State Park is one of my preferred spots to visit when the weather is pleasant. I've explored numerous trails, visited the lake, and captured hundreds of photographs. This painting was inspired by one of those serendipitous moments. While taking a shortcut through some underbrush to return to the trail, I paused to take a few pictures of the scenery. The tree line in the foreground shields me from the path, and a hint of color catches my eye. To my right are violet-colored flowers. The dirt path slices through the painting's bottom center, winding into the woods to the right. The sun has just risen above the treetops in the background, across the path. This painting compels me to step just a little further into the clearing for a fuller view. That brief moment was filled with so much potential.
Acrylic paint on stretched canvas. Measurements: 22 inches wide by 27 inches tall. A heavy old unfinished wooden frame holds the painting.
