What a wonderful place! The Smokies, being much older than the mountains out West like Glacier NP or Yellow Stone NP, have a much smoother almost sensual shape from a distance. My wife has often joked that this is about the only national park that you can explore in the comfort of your own vehicle. Not that I am suggesting that. The trails and sights are awesome and well worth the trouble of leaving the air-conditioned comfort of your vehicle and the views are spectacular. The painting is based on an old photo, taken from our car.
