I have to admit that I love Bison.  I would be hard-pressed to come up with a symbol in my mind that is more American than those stout creatures. I guess it has something to do with the horror of their near extermination, only to have enough caring people, and the obstinate nature of the Bison to bring it back from extinction.  They are majestic beasts and so absolutely impossible for me to paint. Still two of my largest commissioned paintings have had Bison as the main character(s).  This Bison was not a commission work but rather simply for my pleasure.
